We moved from Minnesota to Cottonwood AZ in 2013. In 2019 we visited Tucson for the first time. A friend took us to El Charro Cafe for lunch. The restaurant was charming and has incredible food made by family traditions. It was interesting to see how they dried meat (Carne Seca) in a cage on the roof. That was something I had never seen before and Carlotta Flores let us sample it. The best part of our visit was meeting Carlotta and hearing her stories about the history of the restaurant. Oh, and the food!!!! I had a wonderful Enchilada with rice and beans and my husband had a Chili Rellino. We can’t wait to eat there again.
