When I was three or four years old, my parents took me to the El Charro restaurant when it was located on the South Side of Broadway. This was the first time my parents had ever taken me to a restaurant. It made such a lasting impression on me that approximately 70 years later when I was in the downtown area on a history walk with the Sun City Hiking Club in front of the Tucson visitor’s bureau (which was located in la Placita), I had a flashback to that experience. Come to find out that the original El Charro was actually located in that same building.
